Where everything comes from

Every sweet in our shop has been tried, tested, and chosen by a person. Here is where it all comes from.

Sourcing

British first, best otherwise

We work with three British confectionery suppliers. One has been in business since the 1940s and still uses cast iron moulds. Another is a small family operation in Yorkshire making boiled sweets to recipes passed down four generations. The third is a modern operation in the Midlands that makes our more adventurous flavours.

For specialities we cannot source domestically, like proper Italian nougat or Belgian chocolate, we go direct to the makers. Never through wholesalers, never cheap imports.

Our fudge is hand-cut in our Brentwood kitchen from unsalted butter, demerara sugar, and whole milk. The salted caramel uses Cornish sea salt. The raspberry and prosecco uses real prosecco.

Allergens and dietary

What is in the jar

Common allergens

Our kitchen handles gluten, milk, soya, nuts, and sulphites. Individual sweets vary. Every product page lists the allergens for that specific variety. If you or the recipient has a severe allergy, please get in touch before ordering and we will confirm.

Vegan and vegetarian

Many of our boiled sweets and jellies are suitable for vegans. Our fudge and chocolates contain dairy. A filter on the Expert customiser shows only vegan-friendly sweets if you need one.
